Our Story
Moats were once built as fortification for castles or a small town; their sole purpose and design was to serve as protection for what they encircled. Officer Kenny R. Moats swore an oath to protect and serve the people within his town and surrounding community, which he did unwaveringly until August 25th, 2016. At which time, his small town and surrounding county then stood up and gave protection and service to his family, for he had given the ultimate sacrifice that day in the line of duty. The community stood strong and proud as it rose to the aid of Officer Moats's family, and honored him with a noble farewell.
Officer Kenny R. Moats did more than just his sworn duty on any given day. He was a compassionate man who did whatever he could for others, continually putting someone else's needs before his own. It wasn't just a job; it was who this man was. He gave from the last dollar in his pocket to his life.
Our Mission
Creating a Legacy through Officer Moats Foundation, that honors the man and continues to give in his name is the driving force behind the foundation. We are made up of family, friends, colleagues and community members who are passionate and dedicated to continue the benevolent acts that Kenny did, without recognition or praise, but because he knew it was the right thing to do.
Officer Moats Foundation is a 501C3 non profit located in the heart of Blount County, Tennessee. Our organization is completely VOLUNTEER, there are NO paid positions with in Officer Moats Foundation. Our focus is to give financial and other needed aid to families suffering tragic loss, community educational scholarship opportunities and support first responders.
Our Work
Since inception in 2017, Officer Moats Foundation has provided over $70,000 in financial aid, to 40+ families.
